I would wager that many more people in the Western world would have learnt more of the USSR through 007 and movies of that ilk than through reading Time or other credible journalistic endeavours. Today I am sure that if you stopped someone on the street their knowledge of kazakhstan would not be of oil and US troop deployments but of Borat.
